SENIOR CHOIR REPORT -2005

Music is commanded by God to be part of our daily lives as well as part of our worship to Him (Ps. 96:1,  Ps. 147:7 , Eph. 5:18-19).  The choir therefore plays a very important role in the ministry of our church.

Our church is blessed with a dedicated group of singers, who , in spite of the challenges of the past year, continue to respond as God commands us to SING praises to Him in the beauty of holiness.

We continue to provide music on first, third and fourth Sundays of each month and for Anniversary and Harvest Services.  Miss Lorna Coke accompanies the choir on first Sundays, Mr. Jimmy Smith on third and fourth Sundays and our own Mark Jonas on Sundays when he is available.

Our Easter presentation – “Resurrection Praise” was well received.  However, we were a little disappointed with the low attendance. We were once again blessed with the expertise of Mrs. Mavis Martin of East Queen Street Baptist Church who conducted the choir and Messrs. Dave Hutton and Mark Jonas who provided well needed tenor sound.

Mr. Leroy Rhooms (accompanist) left us in September.  It is our prayer that God will raise up someone who will lead this very important area of the church’s ministry.

Our preparation for Christmas Carol Service had its fair share of challenges as we were without a musician for our Thursday evening rehearsals.  However, we managed to do justice to the presentation – The Promise of Peace” with the help of Miss Lorna Coke who accompanied the choir for final rehearsal and at the Carol Service.

We welcomed one new member – Mrs. Nicole Foster-Pusey (Minister’s wife) to the choir.  We again invite other members of the congregation to be a part of the music ministry of our church.

We anticipate a music-filled year for 2006 and trust that more members of the congregation will get on board.
